Savvas Isovitis, composer and performer, has spent 28 years in the music industry, faithfully serving Greek music with a rock aesthetic. Through his discography — where he signs most of the compositions — and his unique vocal timbre, he has collaborated over the years with many important artists in the field.
In 1994, together with Christos Vasiliadis, he formed the rock band “Isovites”, releasing two albums under the label All Records, featuring compositions by both Savvas and Christos. Their CD single “Utopikes Morfes” (1996) and the album “Xehiasmena Paramythia” (2000) established the Isovites as the first Greek-language rock band in Cyprus to release official recordings.
During this period, they performed concerts across Cyprus and appeared on various music stages. The band ended its artistic activities in 2002.
Savvas Savva then continued his artistic path under the name Savvas Isovitis, taking an independent direction within the alternative music scene. His first solo work, “Psychostagma” (2005), included 16 tracks with music and lyrics written entirely by him.
One of his notable collaborations was with Alexandros Chatzi, who performed the song “Dyo Lekseis” (“Two Words”) — music by Savvas and lyrics by Eleni Sioufta. The track first appeared on Savvas Isovitis’ album “I Thlipsi Kanei Diakopes.”
It was later adapted into German by Giota Gerogiorgi and released by Alexandros Chatzi in Germany under the title “Zwei Worte” on the album “Nur Die Liebe.”
In 2017 he collaborated with Vasilis Karras, releasing the song “Drapetevo” (“I Escape”) on Karras’s album “Aliti Me Lene,” produced by Minos EMI — lyrics by Vasilis Karras and music by Savvas Isovitis.
In 2018, Minos EMI also released their second collaboration, “Astrofengia,” again composed by Savvas with lyrics by Karras and featuring Stelios Stylianou.
Savvas has also set to music the lyrics of many respected lyricists, with most of these songs performed by him.
Among his more recent projects are his performance of “Kokkino Palto” (“Red Coat”), inspired by the film Schindler’s List, with music by Thanos Moschos and lyrics by Myroulla Nearchou, as well as the song “Ploio gia Argentina” (“Ship to Argentina”), written by Myroulla Nearchou and composed and performed by Savvas himself.
He has composed more than 200 songs to date.
His most recent achievement is his distinction in the international SanremoSenior competition. Out of 728 entries worldwide, his Greek-language song “Kathe Avgousto” (“Every August”) reached the semifinals and the World Final.
The competition was held in Sanremo, Italy, at the legendary Teatro del Casino di Sanremo in October 2024, where Savvas Isovitis placed 5th worldwide in his category.
For the first time in the competition’s eight-year history, Cyprus — represented by Savvas Isovitis — was among the finalist countries.
Currently, Savvas performs regularly in Cyprus, along with special appearances and tours in Cyprus, Greece, and abroad.
